The 2016 Billboard Music Awards will honor the most successful music stars, and RFFblog has a full list of the winners!
The BBMAs co-hosts Ciara and Ludacris announced the nominees for this year’s ceremony last month. The Weeknd leads the pack with 20 nominations. That includes the biggest prize, Top Artist of the Year.
He’s competing against Adele, Justin Bieber, Drake, and last year’s winner, Taylor Swift. The Weeknd is also up for Male Artist of the Year with Bieber, Drake, Fetty Wap, and Ed Sheeran. For Female Artist of the Year, the contenders are Swift, Adele, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Rihanna.
Nominees (actually called “finalists”) and winners are determined by “key fan interactions with music, including album and digital songs sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify and other popular online destinations for music.” In addition, Celine Dion will receive the Icon Award and Britney Spears will get the Millennium Award.
